When the Norwich Hockey Club took to its home ice for the first time in September 2022, there were more questions than answers.
How good could a team be in year one? Would the players gel together quickly enough? Would people come and watch? And, perhaps more importantly, would a year or more of planning for a moment like this prove fruitful and show that not only Norwich Hockey Club can exist, but that it can do so while competing at a high level and prepare its players for a future in the game, all while ensuring they receive an unparalleled education.
Olli Nyfors, a forward from Helsinki, Finland, is the first European player to commit to play for Norwich Hockey Club, joining the team for its second season 2023-24. And, if all goes according to plan, he won’t be the last.
